Skoda is known for its practical and affordable cars but also for its tradition of letting its students design and build their own concept vehicles. This year, the Skoda Academy has created something truly unique: the Skoda Roadiaq, an electric camper based on the Skoda Enyaq iV electric SUV.

The Skoda Roadiaq is the result of nine months of work by 31 students from different fields of study, such as design, engineering, and marketing. The project was supervised by Skoda experts and supported by partners such as Bosch, Continental, and Webasto.

The students wanted to create a car that would appeal to adventurous and environmentally conscious customers who enjoy traveling and exploring new places. They chose the Skoda Enyaq iV as the base model because it is the brand’s first all-electric SUV and offers a spacious and versatile interior.

The students transformed the Skoda Enyaq iV into a campervan by extending the roofline, adding a pop-up tent, and installing a solar panel. They also modified the front and rear bumpers, added skid plates and LED light bars, and fitted 20-inch wheels with off-road tires. The exterior color is a metallic green with orange accents inspired by nature.

The interior of the Skoda Roadiaq is equally impressive, featuring a custom-made dashboard with a 13-inch touchscreen, a multifunctional steering wheel, and a digital instrument cluster. The seats are upholstered in leather and Alcantara, with green stitching and Roadiaq logos. The rear seats can be folded down to create a sleeping area, which can be accessed from the tent. The car also has a refrigerator, a coffee machine, a sink, and a stove, as well as plenty of storage space for camping equipment.

The Skoda Roadiaq is powered by an electric motor that delivers 150 kW (204 hp) and 310 Nm (228 lb-ft) of torque. It has a battery capacity of 82 kWh, which provides a range of up to 520 km (323 miles) on a single charge. The car can be recharged using a solar panel or a conventional plug-in socket. The car also has an intelligent all-wheel-drive system that can adapt to different road conditions.

The Skoda Roadiaq is a concept car and a learning opportunity for the students who participated in the project. They gained valuable experience in various aspects of car development, such as design, engineering, production, testing, and marketing. They also had the chance to present their work to the public and the media at various events.

The Skoda Roadiaq is the eighth student car created by the Skoda Academy since 2014. Previous projects include:

  • The Skoda Mountiaq pickup truck.
  • The Skoda Sunroq convertible SUV.
  • The Skoda Element electric buggy.

The student cars showcase the creativity and talent of the young generation at Skoda and the brand’s commitment to education and innovation.

The Skoda Roadiaq is a remarkable example of how an electric car can be fun, practical, and sustainable simultaneously. It is a car that invites you to explore new horizons without compromising on comfort or performance. It is a car reflecting the adventure spirit that drives Skoda and its customers.
