Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the first pictures of its all-new CLE, a four-door coupe that combines the CLS's elegance with the EQ range's efficiency and performance. The Mercedes-Benz CLE is the latest addition to the Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle portfolio, which aims to offer a zero-emission alternative for every customer need.

The Mercedes-Benz CLE is based on the Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA), a modular platform that allows for a high degree of flexibility and scalability in terms of battery size, powertrain configuration, and interior space. The CLE will be available in two variants: the CLE 450 4MATIC and the CLE 580 4MATIC. Both models will feature a dual-motor system that delivers all-wheel drive and impressive acceleration. The CLE 450 4MATIC will have an output of 333 hp and a torque of 568 lb-ft, while the CLE 580 4MATIC will boast 469 hp and 701 lb-ft of torque. The CLE will also offer a range of up to 373 miles on a single charge, according to the WLTP cycle.

The exterior design of the CLE is inspired by the Sensual Purity philosophy that characterizes the Mercedes-Benz brand identity. The CLE has a sleek and aerodynamic silhouette, with a low roofline, a long hood, and a short rear overhang. The front end features a distinctive Black Panel grille that integrates the LED headlights and the Mercedes-Benz star logo. The rear end showcases a full-width LED light strip that connects the slim taillights. The CLE also has frameless doors, flush door handles, and aerodynamically optimized wheels that enhance its sporty and futuristic appearance.

The interior of the Mercedes-Benz CLE is equally stunning, with a spacious and luxurious cabin that offers high comfort and technology. The Mercedes-Benz CLE has four individual seats upholstered in fine leather and adjustable headrests, lumbar support, and massage functions. The dashboard is dominated by the MBUX Hyperscreen, a curved glass panel that spans the entire width of the vehicle and houses three digital displays: one for the driver, one for the central infotainment system, and one for the front passenger. The MBUX Hyperscreen allows for intuitive and personalized control of various functions, such as navigation, media, climate, and driving modes. The CLE also features a Burmester surround sound system, a head-up display, a wireless charging pad, and a panoramic sunroof as standard or optional equipment.

The CLE is not only stylish and comfortable but also smart and safe. The CLE is equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems that provide support and protection in various traffic situations. Some of these systems include:

  • Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC: This system can automatically adjust the speed and distance to the vehicle ahead, as well as follow it in stop-and-go traffic.
  • Active Steering Assist: This system can help the driver stay in the lane and avoid collisions with other vehicles or pedestrians.
  • Active Blind Spot Assist: This system can warn the driver of vehicles in the blind spot and intervene with braking or steering if necessary.
  • Active Parking Assist: This system can help the driver find and park in suitable spaces, either parallel or perpendicular.
  • PRE-SAFE: This system can prepare the vehicle and its occupants for an imminent collision by tightening seat belts, closing windows, activating airbags, and emitting sound signals.

The Mercedes-Benz CLE is expected to go on sale in Europe in early 2024, followed by other markets later in the year. The pricing has not been announced yet, but it is estimated to start from around $80,000 for the base model. The CLE will compete with other electric luxury coupes, such as the Tesla Model S, the Porsche Taycan, and the Audi e-tron GT.

The Mercedes-Benz CLE is a remarkable achievement that showcases the brand's vision for the future of mobility. The CLE is a perfect blend of elegance, efficiency, performance, and innovation that will appeal to discerning customers who value quality, style, and sustainability. The CLE is more than just a car; it is a new star in the electric luxury segment.
