Under the hood of the Renault Kangoo E-Tech is an electric motor with 90kW/245Nm of power and a single-speed reduction gear transmission that drives the front wheels. This is paired with a 45kWh water-cooled lithium-ion battery with a WLTP range of up to 300km, three modes of single-pedal regenerative braking to help maximize range, and a heat pump/air conditioning system to also improve efficiency.
Autonomous emergency braking (AEB) will be standard on Renault Kangoos E-Tech electric van, and driver-assist technology like adaptive cruise control is likely to be available as an option. We are still determining if the standard charger will be 11kW AC or 22kW with an upgrade to an 80kW DC fast charger.
Built on the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance CFM-CD architecture, which underpins a lot of different models like the current Renault Megane and Renault Koleos, the latest Nissan Juke, Qashqai, and X-Trail, and the latest Mitsubishi Outlander, this Kangoo will also be sold as the Nissan Townstar and Mercedes-Benz Citan/T-Class, including the electric versions.
This year, the Renault Kangoo turns 25 years old, and there are now over 4.4 million of them on the road in over 50 countries. It is now in its third version, which came out in late 2020, but the E-Tech didn't come out in its home country of France until late May of this year.
Renault hopes that the electric van version will set it apart enough from other small vans to make it a best-seller.
